It's time that again!

Gather your co-workers, friends and family

it's time to sign up your team for this year’s races!

 

Fast Facts:

- Fee to enter a boat in the race is $2000. (Ask your employer about sponsoring your team or divide the cost among your team members).

¨ Individual paddlers are welcome, the fee is $120. You will be assigned to a team prior to practice week.

¨ Teams must have 16 paddlers plus two alternates and one drummer.  (boats, steer-persons, life jackets, and training are provided.)

¨ Minimum age for paddlers is 12 years with signed permission by a parent/legal guardian.

¨  All fees are nonrefundable and support SMCR, Inc.'s inclusive programs for community members with developmental differences.

¨ Teams are encouraged to fundraise prior to the Festival and/or plan a simple fundraising activity to host at their tent during race day.

¨ Teams should decide on a "Team Theme" which would include team costumes and tent decorations.

¨ Time commitments:  All day race day and also a few hours for practice one night during the week before the races.

¨ All team members are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony on August 16.

 

Be sure to guarantee your spot for the 2019 Festival by sending in your $500 deposit now, then you can begin to raise funds and challenge your co-workers and friends to enter.

Upon registration, a team packet of information will be sent to each captain with detailed information about rules, payments, race logistics and other important information. You can check out the "FAQ", "Fundraising Tips" and "What to Bring" pages for some helpful information.

Deadlines:

¨ Initial team rosters - June 30.

¨ Completed rosters and final payments for all teams - July 31.

¨ Team member waivers - August 4.

Failure to pay the full registration fees, provide complete team rosters and provide completed waivers by all team members by the deadlines will result in a forfeiture of all previously paid fees.

Deadlines may be extended under special circumstances. Please contact us at the email below with your request.

 Thanks to everyone for joining us - we look forward to another exciting event this year!

 
Practice spots will be assigned the first week of August.
 
Remember there is an award for most money raised by a team (over & above the entry fee) so you are encouraged to continue your fundraising efforts. 
 
There may be awards for team costumes, team village areas, and team names, among others, so get creative.
 
You'll need to have a few volunteers, including your drummer,  ready to muster for the morning parade, immediately following the captain's meeting, which is at 8am at the boat loading area.
 
We still have team spots available so please continue to challenge others to join.

Both team funds & individual funds prizes are based on money collected prior to festival day.

Dragon boat racing is a great way to encourage friendly competition among businesses, organizations, friends, and family. We encourage you to compete or come out to experience the fun. It will be an event that you won’t want to miss!
