The day begins with the Festival Parade starting in the parking area at Alexander Lane, proceeding through the Team Village & ending at the Gazebo.  As the parade passes by you'll have the opportunity to cheer for your favorite team and see the paddlers decked out in their kooky costumes. Don't forget to keep your eyes open for the team drummers who have even crazier costumes than their team-mates. Everyone's attention will then be focused on the Gazebo as the Patuxent Color Guard posts colors. Bryan McCarthy will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Menard Family will sing our National Anthem. After the Colors are retired the first races will start. We'll take a break around Noon for the Dragon Dance and lunch. A great time for everyone to visit the many food and artisan vendors in our Vendor's Village. After the lunch break the excitement continues with the final races and we'll wrap up the day with the Awards Ceremony at the Gazebo. We're sure you'll want to stick around to see if your favorite team is in the winners circle and, of course, make plans to celebrate at a local restaurant!

The Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival is a fun place to bring the whole family!
